Whilst most of our interactions have been text based, Keren's personality shines through, get to know her better with me.
We sat down, via Teams, for my favourite style of Blog - the Staff Spotlight.
Let's put the spotlight on Keren, our newest member of staff!
When did you join Viegli and what do you do?
I joined Viegli in November 2020; I’m a bit of a veteran to the industry but definitely a newbie to the team.
I form part of the Academy team as ‘Head of the Training Academy’. I feel extremely lucky to be part of such a fresh hard-working team and to know we are all focusing on the same goal, to provide the best support to our clients and colleagues.
So, what’s a typical day for you as Head of the Training Academy?
I am most productive in the mornings. No day is the same and that is what I love about my position with Viegli. Of course my main aim is to promote and deliver end user training to our customers, however, I could be recording training material and in the next breath, delivering and supporting customers remotely or attending site.
You mentioned before that you’re a bit of a veteran to the industry, how long have you worked in Telecoms?
Now I am feeling old, I joined Telecoms in 1987 as a ‘Project co-ordinator’ to the installation team. The technology has changed so much over the years, it’s exciting.
Having spent so much time in the industry I can imagine you’ve worked in some interesting places, so other than Viegli, where has been your favourite place to work?
You mean there is somewhere better!!!
Hmm, nice answer… Let’s move away from the work questions and turn the spotlight to your personal life.
What is your favourite movie?
Can I have two movies please?
I don’t see why not.
The Lost Boys and Pretty Woman.
I’m not sure I’ve seen those, I’ll add them to my list.
As it is still just about January, did you make any New Year’s Resolutions?
I am not really one for resolutions, however, I do get why people make them. If I ever need to change direction in my life, I just do it.
Speaking of the New Year, this is hopefully the year things start to get better again, although I feel I may regret saying that…
What are you most looking forward to when Covid restrictions ease up?
Hugging my 93 year old Nan, my parents and my sister. I miss them so much.
It’s been a difficult year for sure, but hopefully soon we will be able to see our friends and family!
Thinking back to happier times where is your favourite place to go on holiday?
I absolutely love to ski and I do not mind which country as long as we have snow and of course the apres ski.
That’s definitely something to look forward to, although, personally I can’t wait to go somewhere warm!
So, what would an ideal weekend be like for you?
I am a real socialite so love to spend time with family and friends, out running, walking or cycling and then chilling with a cuppa at the end of it, or maybe a glass of vino.
Sounds like you lead a pretty active lifestyle! I bet your favourite hobbies are active too. What are they?
Running, Walking and Socialising.
Okay, now for my favourite part of Staff Spotlight.
Let’s talk hypothetical questions, I feel like they always give a great insight into someone’s personality.
If you weren’t in this industry what job would you be doing now?
I love to work with people or animals, so it would have to be a Nurse, Care Assistant or a Vet
If you had a superpower what would you choose?
Telepathy, I would always like to know what people are really thinking.
That’s a pretty good choice, I always worry that I’d end up hearing people’s worst thoughts, I think I’d have to be able to turn it on and off.
If you could wake up as an expert in any skill what would you choose?
I generally believe that every day is a school day and we learn new techniques every day but if I could be an expert, I would like to be able to speak lots of different languages, fluently.
If you could host a dinner party, with any four guests, who’s invited?
Princess Diana, Morgan Freeman, my best friend and Chris Evans (Radio DJ)
I’m glad you clarified which Chris Evans as my mind would definitely have gone to Captain America!
Last question now, what is an interesting fact about you?
I can put my right arm all the way around the back of my head and touch my right ear…..And I have no idea why I even tried it!
I gave it a go myself, that seems impossible! You must have stretchy arms!
Thank you so much for completing our Staff Spotlight! It has been wonderful to get to know you better.
